Associate Programme Management Officer
Organizational Context
This position is within the Department of Operational Support (DOS), Division of Special Activities (DSA), Support Partnerships Service (SPS) Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) in New York. The Associate Programme Officer reports to the Senior Programme Officer, focusing on program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, donor outreach, policy, external relations, and coordinating training activities.
Job Purpose
The Associate Programme Officer is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of specialized training programs and new initiatives for peacekeeping and peace operations. This involves monitoring deployment data, analyzing operational requirements, and aligning projects with strategic goals. The role requires proactive problem identification, recommending corrective actions, and liaising with relevant parties. Additionally, the officer will conduct research, provide support for policy coordination and evaluation, plan and facilitate high-level workshops, and assist in developing action plans for policy and operational work streams. The position also involves managing outreach activities, participating in resource mobilization efforts, and contributing to data analysis and reporting for informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of specialized training programs and new initiatives for peacekeeping and peace operations. Monitor and analyze deployment data, operational requirements, and program development aligned with strategic goals. Conduct research on programs and operations, analyzing substantive and statistical data from diverse sources. Provide substantive and technical support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including reviewing emerging issues and trends. Plan and facilitate high-level workshops, coordinate with dignitaries, and assist in developing action plans. Participate in survey initiatives, design data collection tools, and analyze responses. Monitor program activities, translate data into reports and presentations for various audiences. Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports. Support consultative meetings by proposing agendas, identifying participants, and preparing background documents. Undertake outreach activities, develop donor outreach strategies, and coordinate resource mobilization forums. Participate in field missions, providing substantive and administrative support. Coordinate budget funding activities, including donor negotiations and program/project preparation. Contribute to data collection, analysis, and visualization for planning and reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in donor relations, resource mobilization, training, and capacity building within a peacekeeping environment is required. Experience in data analysis or business intelligence tools is desirable. Experience in coordinating donor negotiations, managing grants, budget implementation, and performance reporting is required. Relevant experience in the UN system or a comparable international organization is also required. Experience with developing outreach content for social media and drafting materials for senior leadership is necessary.
