Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related organization promoting humane and orderly migration. The North Pacific Coordination Office manages regional initiatives, including a multi-year disaster readiness project (COFA READY) across FSM, Palau, and the Marshall Islands. This role supports the project's reconstruction and relief efforts in Chuuk.
Job Purpose
The Information Management Officer will support the IOM Coordination Office for the North Pacific by managing information, collecting and analyzing data, and visualizing findings for a public infrastructure and private housing reconstruction project in Chuuk. This role is crucial for effective program reporting and managing reconstruction and relief efforts. The officer will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and Head of Programme, coordinating with various IOM units to ensure data integrity and timely dissemination of information to stakeholders, contributing to the overall success of the COFA READY project's disaster readiness component.
Responsibilities
Maintain and manage data management tools, including databases and applications, to support program objectives across reconstruction, readiness, and relief components. Collect, consolidate, and maintain field data for all emergency response, preparedness, recovery, and reconstruction programs, ensuring efficient information flow and reporting. Train program staff on data input and tool utilization to ensure data quality. Conduct registration activities for affected populations and beneficiaries, updating maps and matrices to show program coverage. Generate regular project reports for IOM and donors, focusing on targets and performance. Process information requests from stakeholders and provide progress updates. Support the development and implementation of communication plans and assist in creating data visualizations and presentations. Research and evaluate information systems and new technologies for disaster management, ensuring consistency with IOM systems and government platforms. Undertake travel to project areas for verification and monitoring. Comply with IOM policies, including data protection and a respectful work environment.
Work Experience
Experience in information management, monitoring and evaluation, and construction management, preferably in developing countries. Proven experience in data collection, analysis, presentation, and report writing. Experience with IOM or USG-funded projects is preferred. Experience in the Pacific region is an advantage.
Skills
Strong ability to analyze diverse datasets and present information clearly. Excellent knowledge of MS Excel or MS Access. High organizational skills. Established analytical and research skills in information management. Ability to show initiative, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise discretion. Good supervision, coordination, and information management skills. Good knowledge of UN System, NGOs, and international organizations. Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision. Ability to maintain partnerships.
