Job Purpose
This role supports the development and administration of Information Technology (IT) applications and systems for the Immigration, Visas and Readmission (IVR) Unit within the Global Visa Application Centre (VAC) Network. The Developer will assist in creating and managing IT solutions that support various IVR unit functions, including visa facilitation, registration, readmission, and document verification. The position requires close coordination with the Information Management and Communications Technology (IMCT) Officer and the broader ICT Department to ensure IT systems meet IOM's operational needs and contractual service levels, contributing to the efficient and reliable operation of global IOM IVR programmes.
Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination of IMCT activities for IOM IVR global programmes, ensuring compliance with IOM ICT Standards, Policies, and external partner requirements. Analyze needs and develop solutions for client application and management systems, including visa facilitation, registration, readmission, and document verification. Evaluate application failures, propose solutions, and develop improvements to ensure functionality, operability, and quality of IT solutions. Design and develop front-end and back-end website applications and databases, ensuring cross-platform optimization. Provide timely technical support and issue resolution, coordinating with global teams to ensure optimal performance and reliability of IOM IVR operations worldwide. Ensure the security, availability, performance, and data integrity of solutions and data. Perform recurring maintenance tasks, manage IT inventory, and document all IT-related changes. Facilitate knowledge transfer to colleagues through documentation and training materials. Stay updated on technologies to enhance service delivery and support.
Work Experience
Four years of professional experience in Information Management and Software Development (two years for Master's degree holders). Experience required in front-end and server-side languages, programming frameworks, database technologies, web server platforms, cloud technologies (Azure, AWS), CMS platforms (Drupal), ECM platforms (SharePoint), RDBMS, Data Warehousing, data visualization (Power BI, Tableau), data management, and project management methodologies.
Skills
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Strong IT technical support skills with a service-oriented, customer-satisfaction mindset. Excellent coordination and communication skills. Experience with project management frameworks and methodologies.
