Job Purpose

The Protection Officer (Case Management Team Leader) supports the implementation and quality of individual protection assistance and case management activities for vulnerable migrants. This role provides technical guidance to case management staff, ensuring the delivery of quality services and contributing to the mainstreaming of protection across all program activities. The position operates under the supervision of the Migrant Protection Officer and contributes to IOM's mandate of protecting people on the move and driving solutions to displacement.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation and monitoring of protection case management activities for vulnerable populations, ensuring timely identification, assessment, and referral of individuals with protection needs. The role involves providing technical guidance and capacity-building to case workers and implementing partners. It also includes managing complex protection cases, strengthening referral pathways through coordination with service providers, and contributing to the development of case management tools and SOPs. The officer will support protection assessments, analyze protection trends, prepare reports, and ensure adherence to IOM's protection principles, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.

Work Experience

Requires experience in Global Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (GAVRR) programs, protection programming, humanitarian assistance, migration management, or case management. Experience working with vulnerable populations, coordinating with governmental institutions and NGOs, report writing, program monitoring, and capacity-building activities is essential.
