Job Purpose
The Media and Communications Officer in Conakry, Guinea, will support the implementation of internal and external communication and media activities for IOM. The officer will coordinate the preparation and dissemination of compelling stories and outputs to various audiences, including communities, media, the general public, and internal IOM stakeholders, with a specific focus on awareness-raising initiatives in Conakry.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include coordinating awareness-raising strategies and outreach activities to promote IOM's image and activities in Guinea. The role involves informing leadership on media and communication matters, participating in inter-agency working groups, and disseminating information to field staff. The officer will contribute to designing and executing information campaigns, utilizing social media, and gathering multimedia content from field operations. This includes ensuring consent for all materials, liaising with headquarters on news stories and global campaigns, updating the country office website, and assisting with reporting and infographics. The position also involves contributing to communication strategies for irregular migration, ensuring gender parity in communications, and coordinating media outreach with UN and other agencies.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in media and communications, previous writing and reporting in international and crisis contexts, and practical experience in multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and working independently.
