Organizational Context

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. Movement Operations, a core mandate since its inception, involves the organized movement of persons needing international migration assistance. This role sits within the Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) unit at IOM Headquarters in Geneva, coordinating RMM activities across various country offices.

Job Purpose

The Programme Officer (RMM) plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) projects. This involves providing essential administrative support, contributing to monitoring and evaluation efforts, and facilitating communications related to RMM activities. The position directly supports the achievement of RMM's objectives, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of services for migrants and refugees. By assisting in project implementation and coordination, the role contributes to IOM's mandate of promoting humane and orderly migration and providing solutions for displaced persons.

Responsibilities

Provide support for RMM projects, assisting in achieving defined objectives, including country assessments and strengthening resettlement programs. Review and endorse RMM projects for country offices outside the EEA, supporting proposal development and response plans. Supervise and guide staff on RMM strategy, policies, and project implementation. Liaise with internal IOM divisions for meetings, summaries, and information gathering. Assist in implementing and monitoring the RMM Strategy and mainstreaming institutional policies across RMM operations. Provide administrative and logistical support for RMM communications, developing presentations, reports, and newsletters. Create infographics on programme achievements for the RMM Portal. Assist in preparing for and participating in external events with UN agencies, states, and other partners. Perform other assigned duties.

Work Experience

Experience in project development and humanitarian assistance work. Proven experience in research, writing, outreach, data collection, analysis, and communications. Experience working in a multicultural environment is required.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design software. Familiarity with IOM's role in resettlement and movement operations. Strong administrative and communication skills.
