Job Purpose
The Protection Information Management & Reporting Officer will support the coordination and implementation of protection data systems, internal and external reporting, protection data analysis, and inter-agency information sharing. This role operates under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Head of Protection Division, in close coordination with relevant programme units. The purpose is to ensure effective management and utilization of protection data to inform programming, identify trends, and contribute to the overall protection mandate of IOM.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the implementation and maintenance of Protection Information Management (PIM) systems, ensuring standardized data collection protocols and tool harmonization. Responsibilities include data quality assurance, integration with broader IOM systems, and maintaining data dictionaries. The officer will aggregate, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify protection trends and concerns, generating dashboards and analytical briefs. Additionally, the role supports the preparation of internal and external reports, tracks performance indicators, and ensures protection data is incorporated into inter-agency and donor reporting. Collaboration in inter-agency coordination fora and facilitating ethical data sharing with partners are key. The role also includes providing technical support and training on PIM and data ethics to staff and partners, contributing to SOPs and guidance on data responsibility and confidentiality.
Work Experience
Proven experience in humanitarian information management, preferably in protection or migration settings, including database and application development. Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality reports, analytical briefs, and communications products synthesizing protection data. Experience managing protection data platforms (e.g., MiMOSA, RIMS) and working with UN, IOM, or NGOs in humanitarian/migration contexts is highly desirable. Experience in data verification, validation, classification, and transaction is also noted.
Skills
Strong analytical skills with experience in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, GIS). Ability to deliver technical trainings and work collaboratively across sectors. Good written and oral communication skills for effective liaison and coordination. Ability to organize work independently, prioritize under pressure, and maintain attention to detail. Excellent qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills. Knowledge of protection principles, confidentiality, and data protection frameworks. Proficiency in data management and analysis software (e.g., Excel, SQL, R, Python, Kobo, ODK). Understanding of IOM's PIM approach. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
