Organizational Context
The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme is sponsored by the Government of the Republic of Korea. IFAD is an international financial institution and UN specialized agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger by investing in rural people. The Office of the Secretary (SEC) supports IFAD's institutional governance, organizing formal and informal sessions of governing bodies and providing services to Member States.
Job Purpose
Serve as a key point of contact between IFAD and its Member States, fostering trust-based relationships, political awareness, and transparent communication. Support the Fund's mandate by enhancing Member engagement in governance processes, strategic events, and development programmes.
Responsibilities
Support outreach and engagement with Member States; assist in maintaining communication and responding to requests; support organization of briefings for new representatives; prepare background materials. Provide support on governance processes, including accreditation and credentials; maintain membership databases; assist in organizing events and tracking queries. Support logistical and substantive preparation of meetings and events; coordinate Member State participation; prepare draft materials; support post-event follow-up. Conduct research on political and institutional developments; compile data; support analytical work. Draft correspondence and communication materials; update digital platforms; capture institutional knowledge. Liaise with IFAD divisions and colleagues; coordinate Member State participation; support liaison activities with UN entities and IFIs.
Work Experience
At least two years of progressively relevant professional experience, preferably in administrative and policy issues in an international setting, focusing on diplomatic relations, organization of multilateral meetings, research, analysis, and writing. Experience in a multicultural organization or a global support organization is an advantage. Experience with knowledge management tools is an advantage.

Adaptability, flexibility, corporate approach, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, synthesis, strong verbal and written communication, evidence-based policy formulation, basic knowledge of institutional governance in UN agencies and IFIs, strong motivation to learn, strong analytical and organizational skills, knowledge of statistics (asset), project management skills, ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings, ability to draft reports, excellent knowledge of IT systems and MS Office, ability to empathize, manage confidential information, and synthesize information.
