Associate Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Organizational Context

The Department of Safeguards functions as the IAEA's global nuclear inspectorate, dedicated to advancing international efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. This role is situated within the Office of Information and Communication Systems (SGIS), which provides essential ICT services to support the Department's mandate.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Team Leader, the Associate Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for implementing quality assurance processes to ensure development activities align with divisional policies, procedures, and standards. This role contributes to software testing, quality reviews, and the analysis of quality-related data under the supervision of senior QA staff. The position supports the delivery of reliable and secure ICT solutions and drives continuous process improvement within the Division, ensuring quality standards and guidelines remain current and effective.

Responsibilities

The Associate Software Quality Assurance Engineer will contribute to ensuring the quality of projects and products through various activities. This includes executing manual and automated test cases, documenting results, and reporting defects. The role involves supporting the development and maintenance of test plans, test cases, and scripts based on system requirements. Participation in software testing, analysis of results, and validation of defect fixes is key. The incumbent will support defect tracking, triaging, and verification processes, as well as assist in maintaining test environments, data, and documentation. Additionally, the role supports configuration control, problem reporting, change management, and participates in project quality assurance reviews, assessing deliverables against standards. Reviewing project documentation, collecting and analyzing quality metrics, and preparing inputs for status reports are also core functions. Feedback for improving testing procedures and overall quality practices, along with supporting continuous process improvement initiatives, are expected.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of practical working experience in software quality assurance and/or quality control within Agile Development environments is required. Familiarity with Agile Software Development Methodologies, experience with automated testing tools, and web-based application testing are considered assets.

Skills

Proficiency in communication, achieving results, client orientation, and commitment to continuous process improvement. Expertise in Information Technology, including data analysis and familiarity with IT Infrastructure Library concepts. Experience with Software Configuration Management tools like TFS and VSS is also noted.
