Organizational Context
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, focusing on "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection." This programme supports initiatives in food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment, and radiation technologies. The Division of Human Health specifically aims to enhance Member States' capabilities in preventing, diagnosing, and treating health problems using nuclear techniques within a quality assurance framework.
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Divisional Director, the Associate Programme Officer (NAHU) is responsible for serving as the focal point for outreach activities within the Division. This role contributes to the implementation of the Division's regular programme, monitors progress, provides analytical support for ongoing tasks, and acts as a key liaison for various programmatic and collaborative efforts. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying funding opportunities and ensuring the effective dissemination of information and results.
Responsibilities
The Associate Programme Officer will assist in programmatic activities, including conferences and flagship initiatives, and identify suitable grants by screening online platforms. Responsibilities include non-scientific editing of grant proposals, coordinating cooperation agreements, and managing stakeholder engagement. The role involves providing technical support for collaborative activities, overseeing the renewal of practical arrangements, and preparing/publishing internal and external reports. Additionally, the officer will manage the divisional database (NAHUNET), coordinate outreach activities, draft correspondence, and develop outreach materials. This includes assembling background information for meetings and providing general office support.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of two years of experience in developing and reviewing multimedia content and articles at a national or international level. Experience in preparing scientific/technical manuscripts and advocacy materials, along with coordinating the delivery of quality publications, is also essential.
Skills
Key skills include strong communication abilities, achieving results through initiative and clear definition of outputs, client orientation for effective relationship management, commitment to continuous process improvement, and sound judgment/decision-making. Expertise in administrative support, data analysis, reporting, document management, and public relations/external communications is also required.
