Organizational Context
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for promoting international cooperation in meteorology and operational hydrology. This consultancy is part of the "Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL)" initiative, aiming to enhance early warning systems in Togo to reduce the impact of major hazards.
Job Purpose
To support the technical coordination and national stakeholder engagement for the preparation of Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) workplans, assist in the communication of project achievements, and support the development of the EW4ALL roadmap in Togo.
Responsibilities
1. Support technical coordination and national stakeholder engagement for preparation of EW4ALL and GCF workplans by reviewing institutional mandates, mapping initiatives, and developing recommendations for a national EW4ALL Action Plan.
2. Support the communication of project achievements by describing achievements in relation to EW4ALL pillars, documenting lessons learned, preparing communication articles, and generally supporting project communication.
3. Support the preparation of the EW4ALL roadmap by engaging with national agencies to collect strategic visions, mapping investments, coordinating workshops, and preparing the roadmap for validation.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in early warning systems, project planning, policy analysis or climate-related project management, preferably in Sub Saharan Africa.
Skills
Direct experience with national meteorological agencies and UN agency frameworks is highly desirable.
