Organizational Context
The PCT Operations Division is responsible for the receipt, formalities examination, publication, and communication of PCT applications. This role is within PCT Client Service Team 6, focusing on delivering high-quality customer services to PCT users in all 10 official PCT publication languages. The incumbent will act as a focal point for major clients and IT-related issues.
Job Purpose
The Principal Client Advisor serves as a key focal point for major clients and IT-related matters within the PCT Operations Division. This role requires acting as an expert in customer services and the formalities examination of PCT applications. The incumbent will manage relationships with key accounts, provide dedicated guidance and training, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves contributing expert PCT business input to the development of the PCT system, including IT tools and rule changes, and analyzing performance statistics to propose efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will serve as the primary contact for key accounts, including major applicants and their agents, analyzing their situations, establishing regular communication, and providing guidance and training to ensure excellent customer service. They will offer expert PCT business insights for the development of the PCT system, IT tools, and rule modifications. Responsibilities include compiling and analyzing workload and productivity data, suggesting methods to enhance efficiency, and drafting inputs for knowledge base updates based on user feedback and examiner input. The role involves examining complex international applications, responding to intricate procedural queries with legal accuracy, identifying training needs for team members, and providing on-the-job coaching. Staying current with PCT changes, regulatory frameworks, and IT tool developments is crucial. The incumbent will also participate in seminars and perform other related tasks as needed, potentially acting on behalf of the Operations Team Head.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience with the PCT is required. This includes experience within an IP office or a similar working environment, expertise in formalities examination of patent applications, and proven experience in customer service and training.

Key skills include strong communication abilities for technical and business audiences, a deep understanding of the PCT and its procedures, proficiency with relevant IT tools, and a client-oriented approach focused on service improvement.
