The Unit leverages innovation and intellectual property to address global challenges like climate change.

Job Purpose

Under the Head of Climate Change and Food Security, and as part of the WIPO GREEN initiative, the incumbent will drive the implementation and scaling of acceleration projects. This involves translating technology matches into concrete deployment outcomes, investment opportunities, and measurable socio-economic impact. The role emphasizes strategic partnerships and financing, aligning with WIPO’s mandate to utilize intellectual property and innovation ecosystems for climate change and food security solutions. The position acts as a catalyst, fostering collaboration across WIPO sectors and cultivating external partnerships to accelerate technology deployment and innovation initiatives.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will design, coordinate, and scale WIPO GREEN Acceleration Projects, focusing on planning, resource management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement for technology deployment and investment readiness. They will establish and manage partnerships with governments, private sector entities, and financial institutions. Performance monitoring of the project portfolio, including tracking key performance indicators for technology deployment, financing, and socio-economic impact, is crucial. The role involves integrating WIPO GREEN assets into project delivery, developing scalable programmatic approaches, and producing knowledge products, case studies, and communications content to highlight the role of IP and innovation in addressing climate and food security challenges. Ecosystem mapping and technology scouting are also key duties.

Work Experience

At least six years of relevant professional experience in global environmental issues such as climate change, food security, green technologies, or innovation ecosystems, with experience in developing country contexts. Demonstrated experience managing international or multi-stakeholder projects, including partnerships and funding, is essential. Experience with financial institutions or environmental finance is desirable.
