Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Local Media Liaison Officer will be responsible for maintaining and updating a network of journalists, community radios, televisions, online media, and press correspondents in affected areas. This includes fostering regular contact with local media and facilitating liaison with the WHO communication team. The role involves mobilizing local media for activities, field visits, interviews, and briefings, as well as assisting media teams during field visits when necessary. A key responsibility is to identify and report local media coverage opportunities to the communication team. Furthermore, the officer will conduct regular monitoring of local media concerning the epidemic and response efforts, promptly reporting any significant concerns, questions, rumors, or misinformation. This includes tracking and compiling articles, radio programs, TV reports, and digital content related to WHO-supported interventions and providing regular summaries of local media coverage to the communication team.
