Organizational Context

The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting the Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of Congo to respond to an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak. This role is part of the Incident Management System (IMS) for the EVD response, focusing on operational support within Treatment Centers.

Job Purpose

The Health Logistician Assistant will provide essential support for the daily operations and maintenance of Ebola Treatment Centers (ETCs). This includes ensuring the proper functioning of infrastructure, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) systems, utilities, and logistical processes. The role contributes to maintaining a safe and functional environment for patient care and response activities, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols under the supervision of the technical team.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting ETC infrastructure by conducting regular inspections, reporting maintenance needs, and overseeing repairs. The role involves monitoring Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) systems, including water supply, sanitation facilities, waste management, and hygiene practices, ensuring quality control and adherence to protocols. Additionally, the assistant will monitor energy and utilities, track fuel consumption, and report any failures. Support for health logistics includes monitoring stock levels, assisting with inventory management, and preparing logistical requests. The position also requires collecting operational data, submitting regular reports, maintaining accurate records, and providing practical support and coaching to facility staff, waste managers, and maintenance personnel.

Work Experience

Essential: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience. Desirable: Experience supporting health facilities, WASH activities, logistics operations, or infrastructure maintenance. Experience in Ebola response operations is required. Previous experience with WHO, UN agencies, NGOs, or Ministry of Health programs is an asset.
