Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting the Government of Rwanda in hosting the 7th Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in March 2027. This significant event will convene global leaders and stakeholders to discuss mental health. The role of the National Coordinator is crucial for coordinating national and international efforts, ensuring smooth preparation and execution of the Summit.
Job Purpose
The National Coordinator will provide essential day-to-day support for the 7th Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in Rwanda. This involves strengthening coordination among various national and international actors, facilitating information flow, maintaining documentation, and offering practical implementation assistance. The role is designed to ensure the effective preparation, organization, delivery, and follow-up of the Summit, working under the guidance of designated focal points and contributing to the overall success of this high-profile international event.
Responsibilities
The National Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining key planning documents, including an inception note, initial workplan, rolling workplan, action tracker, contact list, and issue/risk log. They will prepare monthly activity reports, meeting agendas, and minutes for coordination meetings. Additionally, the role involves consolidating coordination trackers for stakeholders, participants, speakers, and logistics, and providing periodic readiness updates. During the Summit, the coordinator will manage on-site coordination and issue logs, and post-Summit, will contribute to the final handover package and operational lessons learned.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required in areas such as project coordination, conference organization, public health program support, government liaison, or international event coordination. Experience in developing workplans, trackers, reports, and operational tools is necessary. Experience working with Rwandan government institutions and coordinating multi-stakeholder processes is highly desirable.

Interpersonal and diplomatic skills for working with diverse stakeholders. Problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration tools.
