Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide essential logistical support for WHO's emergency health and security response operations in Burkina Faso, working in coordination with national authorities. The position also contributes to the daily administrative and operational activities of the WHO Country Office. This involves managing emergency-related stocks, ensuring the timely deployment of strategic supplies, and supporting the overall efficiency of logistical operations. The role is vital for maintaining the supply chain of critical medical items and equipment needed for emergency interventions and routine country office functions, ensuring compliance with WHO procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Logistique will manage emergency-related stocks, contributing to the planning, coordination, and monitoring of logistical operations for health and security emergencies. This includes ensuring the availability and rapid deployment of strategic supplies like medical kits, medicines, and PPE, and tracking air shipments. The role involves participating in the establishment and monitoring of emergency stocks, supporting response operations for epidemics and disasters, and ensuring the proper storage and transport of sensitive health products. Responsibilities also include evaluating logistical needs during emergencies, producing reports on stock status, and participating in any logistical activities to enhance emergency preparedness. Additionally, the role involves managing the reception of goods, updating tracking tools, preparing deliveries, maintaining store inventory, and overseeing customs and tax exemptions for imported items.
Work Experience
Essential: A minimum of 8 years of practical and relevant experience in logistics or stock management. Desirable: Experience working with multiple partners, UN agencies, and NGOs is advantageous. Experience in emergency response is a plus.
