Organizational Context
The World Health Organization's Communications unit (COM) aims to increase awareness of health issues and enhance engagement with WHO among various stakeholders. It utilizes communications as a tool for policy advocacy, behavior change, and building partnerships for public health challenges within the Western Pacific Region.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate, under the Regional Communications Manager, is responsible for creating and designing audiovisual materials to support WHO's communication objectives. This includes developing content from concept to delivery, providing design guidance for campaigns and advocacy materials, and ensuring high-quality outputs for various platforms. The role also involves advising on video production, coordinating media events, and supporting major communication-focused events, contributing to WHO's visibility and engagement with its partners and the public.
Responsibilities
Create audiovisual materials from concept to final delivery, considering objectives, audience, distribution, timeline, and budget. Provide design guidance for corporate communications, campaigns, and advocacy materials, producing web- and print-ready files for infographics, posters, brochures, and videos. Offer technical advice on all phases of studio and video production, ensuring quality outputs. Coordinate and set up interviews and events for various media platforms, including studio/on-location preparation and equipment setup. Contribute to planning and executing major communication events, such as news conferences and exhibits, including photography and video coverage. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
Essential: At least eight years of relevant work experience supporting audiovisual communication, preferably within a large organization. Desirable: Experience working within the UN system.
Skills
Proficiency in managing graphic design, photography, video production, live-streaming, and studio/stage setup. Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines with creativity and organization. Capacity to work independently or as part of a team. Adaptability to diverse environments and maintenance of professional standards. Flexibility and openness to suggestions and changes, with the ability to work effectively within limited timeframes.
