Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Vanuatu supports the Ministry of Health. This role operates within the WHO Vanuatu office, specifically supporting the Ministry of Health's Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) team. The position focuses on enhancing NCD outreach activities and improving the utilization of HeartCare data for program management and decision-making.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to bridge the gap between data collection and data utilization within the Ministry of Health's NCD program in Vanuatu. The incumbent will support the NCD team by transforming HeartCare data into actionable outreach plans, patient follow-up lists, and performance summaries. This will involve strengthening data quality, facilitating the routine use of data for program management, and supporting the coordination and monitoring of NCD outreach services. Ultimately, the role aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of NCD prevention and management efforts through better data-informed strategies and interventions, contributing to better health outcomes for the population.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the planning and coordination of NCD outreach activities by developing routine plans, liaising with teams, and identifying priority areas using HeartCare data. The role involves analyzing and presenting HeartCare data through reports, charts, and dashboards to inform program reviews and decision-making, and identifying trends and gaps. A significant focus is on supporting the identification and follow-up of high-risk patients by generating lists, tracking progress, and flagging overdue cases. Strengthening HeartCare data quality through routine checks, identifying issues, and supporting data entry improvements is crucial. Additionally, the role will support user adoption and provide basic user support for the HeartCare system, documenting issues and training needs. Finally, the position will contribute to monitoring, reporting, and programme documentation, and coordinate with the Ministry of Health, WHO, and other partners.
Work Experience
Essential: Minimum of five years of experience supporting health program coordination, outreach activities, public health services, health facility support, or community-based health activities. Demonstrated experience working with routine health data, program data, monitoring tools, reporting systems, or health information systems. Desirable: Experience with NCD programs, digital health systems, data analysis tools (e.g., Excel), stakeholder coordination, and user support.
