Job Purpose
The FETP Technical Officer will support the Intermediate/Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Program (I-FETP) in India. This role involves close collaboration with the training institute and WHO India FETP secretariat to ensure the effective delivery of training. The officer will assist in curriculum development, coordination of training sessions, and mentorship of FETP trainees. The primary goal is to enhance the capacity of public health professionals in epidemiology, surveillance, and outbreak investigations, thereby strengthening India's public health response capabilities.
Responsibilities
The FETP Technical Officer will liaise with the training institute to develop course calendars and prepare for contact sessions, including agendas and materials. They will coordinate with mentors and FETP officers for session planning and provide technical support for Core Activity of Learning (CAL). Responsibilities include guiding officers in surveillance data analysis, system assessment, and outbreak investigations. The role involves mentoring trainees on epidemiological studies, reviewing their work for scientific quality, and facilitating administrative approvals. Additionally, the officer will manage training progress, update databases, coordinate seminars, and support the documentation of FETP guidelines and reports. They will also maintain communication with WHO India and NCDC, and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Essential: At least one year of progressive experience in conducting training or workshops for public health professionals in India. Experience as a mentor or faculty for intermediate or advanced FETP programs. Desirable: Experience as an FETP training coordinator for institutes.
