Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide technical support and expertise to strengthen immunization programs in the Philippines. The role contributes to improving immunization coverage, analyzing program data for evidence-based decision-making, and strengthening national capacity to manage and respond to immunization-related challenges. Ultimately, the position aims to reduce the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases and improve public health outcomes in the country.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating immunization programs and vaccination campaigns, including tracking key performance indicators and supporting corrective actions. Analyze immunization coverage and performance data to promote evidence-based program improvement, identifying equity gaps and zero-dose populations. Strengthen vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) and AEFI surveillance systems, monitoring key diseases and improving surveillance quality. Support the preparation of national documentation and technical reports for certification and verification processes. Contribute to the development and updating of national immunization and VPD strategic documents, including disease control plans and outbreak response strategies. Support immunization system strengthening initiatives, such as data quality assessments and improvements to immunization information systems. Collaborate with the Department of Health and partners to build capacity of immunization and surveillance officers through training and field support. Prepare technical reports, briefing notes, and program updates, contributing to annual work planning and reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, specifically in supporting immunization program implementation and monitoring, including experience with VPD surveillance and outbreak response. Experience working with national or subnational health authorities or international health organizations is desirable.
Skills
Sound knowledge of routine immunization systems, vaccination campaigns, and VPD surveillance standards. Ability to analyze immunization and surveillance data and provide evidence-based recommendations. Knowledge of certification and verification frameworks for polio eradication and measles/rubella elimination. Familiarity with immunization system strengthening tools (e.g., EVM, DQS, microplanning). Good facilitation and coordination skills. Ability to conduct field monitoring and technical supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with data analysis and information systems (e.g., DHIS2, Epi Info, GIS, Stata) is an advantage.
