International Consultant - Environment And Health Governance For Implementation Of The EHP Commitments
Organizational Context
The WHO European Centre for Environment and Health (WHO ECEH) supports Member States in strengthening environment and health policies. It serves as the secretariat for the European Environment and Health Process (EHP), which translates commitments from ministerial conferences into prioritized actions. WHO ECEH provides coordination and technical support to six EHP Partnerships.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support WHO ECEH in its role as the secretariat for the European Environment and Health Process (EHP) Partnerships. The consultant will contribute to enhancing the visibility and implementation of EHP commitments by providing technical coordination and communication support. This involves engaging with Member States and partners to gather information, develop communication materials, and prepare for key intergovernmental meetings. The role is crucial for translating political commitments into tangible actions and strengthening national capacities within the WHO European Region.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the technical coordination and communication of the EHP Partnerships. This includes revising questionnaires for progress reporting, engaging with lead countries and WHO focal points to consolidate inputs, and drafting technical content for partnership leaflets and an annual report. The role also involves developing a video script, creating newsletter contributions, web stories, and social media content, and providing technical review of communication materials. Additionally, the consultant will prepare technical inputs for the European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) meeting, including drafting session briefs, key messages, and compiling examples of good practice and success stories from the Partnerships.
Work Experience
Essential: Up to 5 years (preferably 3 years) of professional experience supporting international policy processes, programmes, or capacity-building initiatives in environment and health or intersectoral governance. Experience working with UN or other international organizations is required. Experience with Member States and government institutions is an asset.
Skills
Excellent writing and communication skills in English; ability to synthesize technical inputs; strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills; knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Teams); ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds.
