The WHO Global Service Centre (GSC) in Malaysia provides specialized services in human resources, procurement, finance, and IT support to WHO offices worldwide. The Global Finance and Payroll teams within the GSC are responsible for processing and accounting for various financial transactions, including payroll, accounts payable, and travel expenses, aiming for swift and reliable service delivery.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Global Finance and Payroll teams within the WHO Global Service Centre (GSC) in Malaysia. The primary purpose is to deliver responsive and accurate financial services to internal and external stakeholders, aligning with the GSC Service Catalogue. This involves processing various financial transactions, managing inquiries, and contributing to the efficient operation of the finance and payroll functions. The role supports the overall aim of the GSC to provide swift and reliable financial services globally, ensuring quality and accuracy in all assigned tasks and contributing to process improvements.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include delivering responsive customer service in alignment with the GSC Service Catalogue by processing requests through ERP workflows and other corporate systems. This involves accurately administering assigned tasks, following up on pending items, and seeking guidance when necessary. The role requires providing advice to team members and clients, communicating effectively across departments, and assisting with system issue identification and testing. Specific duties may involve reconciling General Ledger accounts, preparing journal vouchers, analyzing financial records, producing management reports, and recommending process improvements. Depending on the team assignment (Payroll & Pension, Accounts Payable, Awards, or Financial Reporting & Controls), responsibilities will extend to specific tasks such as payroll processing, supplier invoice management, payment execution, bank reconciliations, award and revenue transaction processing, and financial reporting and analysis.
Work Experience
Essential: A minimum of 8 years of recent relevant administrative experience, including at least 2 years specifically in accounting, finance, or payroll. Desirable: Hands-on experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, such as Oracle.
Skills
Essential: Proficiency in computer and information technology, including MS Office and web-based software. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and/or database packages. Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS is required for Global Finance roles. Desirable: Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS is desirable for Global Payroll roles. WHO competencies include Teamwork, Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences, Communication, Producing results, and Moving forward in a changing environment. Expert knowledge of English is essential; intermediate French is desirable.
