Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office Support Units are integral to the organizational structure, providing essential administrative and financial support. The Operations Support and Logistics team within these units manages WHO vehicles and transportation, ensuring efficient resource utilization and coordinating travel across the country.
Job Purpose
The Driver position is crucial for providing transportation services to the WHO Country Office in South Sudan. The role's primary purpose is to safely operate WHO official vehicles for authorized personnel, deliveries, and collections, ensuring adherence to all traffic regulations. This includes maintaining the vehicle in excellent working condition, performing minor repairs, and ensuring all necessary documentation and supplies are present. The incumbent's safe and efficient driving contributes directly to the smooth operation of WHO's activities in the region.
Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for operating WHO official vehicles for transporting authorized personnel, mail, documents, and other items. This includes meeting personnel at the airport and assisting with immigration and customs. The role requires ensuring the vehicle is always in good working order, performing minor repairs, arranging for major servicing, and maintaining cleanliness. Daily logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance must be accurately recorded. The driver must also follow all procedures in case of an accident and perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Essential: A minimum of one year of driving experience with a clean and safe driving record. Desirable: Relevant experience working with the WHO, UN, or other international organizations.
