Consultant - Violence Against Women (VAW) And Violence Against Children (VAC)
Organizational Context
The WHO Egypt Country Office focuses on strengthening health systems to address violence and protect the rights of women and children. Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide expert technical support to the WHO Egypt Country Office (WCO) in advancing initiatives related to Violence against Women (VAW) and Violence against Children (VAC) through health system strengthening. The consultant will be responsible for adapting WHO technical guidance, conducting readiness assessments, contributing to capacity-building programs, and facilitating technical coordination with national stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Population and the Egypt Healthcare Authority. The ultimate goal is to enhance the health sector's response to VAW and VAC, ensuring alignment with national strategies, WHO standards, and a survivor-centered approach, thereby improving service delivery for affected individuals.
Responsibilities
The consultant will support health system strengthening efforts by adapting technical guidance, conducting readiness assessments, and providing capacity-building support for VAW/VAC response. Key deliverables include adapting the WHO Clinical Handbook for Child Maltreatment for Egypt, assessing health facility readiness and service mapping for VAW/VAC response in six facilities, and supporting capacity-building for healthcare providers through at least two workshops. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to integrating GBV and VAC into the National Adolescents Health Guidelines. The role also involves providing ongoing technical and coordination support to WHO Egypt on VAW/VAC priorities, including supporting stakeholder coordination, meetings, and technical documentation, and submitting monthly progress updates and a final consultancy report.
Work Experience
Requires 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in public health, GBV/VAW/VAC, child protection, mental health, or health systems strengthening. Experience working with ministries of health and engaging in technical coordination is also necessary.

Strong technical understanding of VAW/VAC and health sector responses; analytical and reporting skills; stakeholder coordination; facilitation and workshop support; excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.
