Job Purpose
The Technical Officer (Gender-Based Violence) will provide essential technical support to the WHO team and the Health Cluster in Gaza, focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This role is crucial for enhancing the health sector's response to GBV by supporting capacity-building activities for partners and service providers. The position involves conducting assessments, monitoring interventions, and ensuring GBV is adequately integrated into health cluster planning and activities. The goal is to strengthen the overall health response to GBV in the region.
Responsibilities
Provide timely and sustainable technical support on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to the WHO team and Health Cluster in Gaza. Support capacity building for health sector partners and service providers on health responses to GBV. Conduct monitoring visits and assessments to evaluate training effectiveness and identify needs and gaps in GBV response at health facilities, proposing actions aligned with WHO standards. Facilitate the integration of GBV activities into Health Cluster plans. Support coordination between the health cluster, GBV sub-working group, and relevant task forces. Assist in adapting training materials and guidance on GBV for the Gaza context. Produce quarterly activity reports for submission to the MHPSS/GBV focal point.
Work Experience
Essential: At least one year of professional experience working in Gender-Based Violence. Desirable: Prior humanitarian field experience with WHO, UN agencies, health cluster partners, or international non-governmental organizations.
Skills
Excellent organizational and analytical skills; ability to coordinate activities and multitask; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to negotiate with officials tactfully and diplomatically; expert knowledge of English and Arabic.
