The World Health Organization (WHO) Health Technology Access Programme (HTAP) aims to enhance global health security and equitable access to health products by expanding regional innovation and manufacturing. In India, WHO collaborates with the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), a leading public institution for medical device development and technology transfer.
Job Purpose
This role supports the WHO India Country Office in advancing technology transfer mechanisms for LAMP diagnostic platform-based technologies under the HTAP framework. The primary objective is to foster partnership building and develop a comprehensive workplan for technology transfer. Additionally, the position contributes 20% of its time to specific In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) related support for the Country Office, ensuring alignment with WHO's global health priorities and the specific needs of India.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and coordination for finalizing workplan activities related to LAMP technology consortia. Offer technical assistance for diagnostics and local production strengthening, including workshops. Contribute to developing training materials and on-site support for technologies, including analytical and clinical validation with regulatory readiness. Support local program management by convening meetings, preparing progress reports, and outlining recommended actions. Facilitate collaboration with partners for scale-up and technology transfer to enable cost-effective deployment. Assist in preparing diagnostic kits for WHO Prequalification, including multi-country validation. Support the integration and on-site implementation of Quality Management Systems for the technologies.
Work Experience
Essential: Minimum of one year of professional experience in the regulatory, technology, or manufacturing sector. Desirable: Experience providing technical support in the medical technology sector, particularly within government institutions involved in medical product quality and safety.
