Job Purpose
The Senior Security Associate (G7) will lead and coordinate security team activities, ensuring alignment with business needs and implementing recommendations for process improvements. This role involves analyzing security threats and risks, producing comprehensive reports, and managing security information to support senior staff decision-making. The incumbent will build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, oversee staff activities during field missions, and conduct security assessments to ensure safe program delivery. Additionally, the position requires providing expert advice on security risk management and safety issues within the UN Security Management System, overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures, and managing security equipment. The role also includes developing and overseeing emergency preparedness plans, designing and delivering security training, and supervising junior staff to foster their development and high performance.
Responsibilities
The Senior Security Associate G7 role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Amman, Jordan, involves leading and coordinating security team activities to align with business needs and implementing process improvements for the safety of WFP staff, facilities, and operations. Key responsibilities include analyzing security threats and risks, producing comprehensive reports on trends impacting operations, and communicating this information to relevant stakeholders. The role requires building and maintaining relationships with external entities like local authorities and UN/NGO security staff to ensure safe program delivery and mitigate risks. It also involves overseeing security assessments during field missions, devising risk mitigation measures, and providing expert advice on security risk management and safety issues in compliance with the United Nations Security Management System. Furthermore, the position entails overseeing the implementation of risk management measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), managing security equipment, strengthening technological capacity, and ensuring effective access control procedures. Developing and overseeing emergency and contingency planning, as well as designing and delivering security training to staff, are also crucial aspects of this role. The Senior Security Associate will supervise and train other staff members to foster their development and high performance.
Work Experience
Requires seven or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relevant business stream, including general administrative work.
