Job Purpose

The Chauffeur will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and goods within the Adre field office. This role involves operating light vehicles, trucks, vans, or motorcycles, adhering strictly to UN safety and security regulations and approved routes. The Chauffeur will also assist official personnel and visitors with airport arrivals and customs procedures, ensuring their secure transfer. Maintaining vehicle logs, reporting on mechanical status, and ensuring the vehicle is clean and well-equipped are key responsibilities. Additionally, the Chauffeur may perform basic administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing simple deliveries, contributing to the overall operational support of the office.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and goods, adhering strictly to UN regulations on safety and security. This includes driving various vehicles, such as light vehicles, trucks, and vans, and potentially operating boats. The role involves meeting and assisting official personnel and visitors at entry points, guiding them through visa and customs procedures, and ensuring their secure arrival at designated destinations. A crucial aspect is meticulous vehicle maintenance, including keeping service logs updated, reporting daily mechanical status, and ensuring vehicles are clean, fully equipped, and properly authorized for travel. Drivers must also comply with field delivery rules, accident protocols, and immediately report any issues to their supervisor. Beyond driving, the position may require performing simple administrative tasks like filing, photocopying, managing inventory, collecting/delivering items, handling mail, and paying bills to provide administrative support.

Work Experience

Requires at least two years of experience as a driver, preferably with an embassy, UN agency, or international organization. Must have a good driving record and experience operating various vehicle types, including vans. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.
