Job Purpose
The Team Lead - Analytics and Evidence for Diets and Nutrition (P4) will manage two analytical teams (MIMI and SAN) within the Nutrition, School Meals and Social Protection Service. This role is crucial for overseeing the development and implementation of workplans, leading engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and representing WFP's nutrition and diet analytics. The primary objective is to optimize the integration of analytics with programming and technical assistance, ensuring the generation, synthesis, and use of evidence to inform policy and programme decisions. The Team Lead will provide strategic leadership, drive methodological development, identify new analytical opportunities, manage partnerships, and lead multidisciplinary teams, leveraging advanced analytics and AI to enhance efficiency and scalability in nutrition and diet analysis.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Team Lead to manage two analytical teams focused on nutrition and diet analytics within its Nutrition, School Meals and Social Protection Service. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of work plans, leading engagement with internal and external stakeholders including academia, and ensuring the generation and use of evidence to inform policy and program decisions. The Team Lead will provide strategic leadership for nutrition and diet research, analysis, and methodological development, including the responsible use of AI and machine-learning techniques. Key responsibilities include quality assurance for analytical methods, directing data source integration, and overseeing country-level stakeholder consultations. The position also requires identifying new analytical opportunities, advising on strategic directions, and maintaining partnerships. Strategic relationship management with global and national stakeholders, including academic institutions and donors, is crucial. The Team Lead will manage multidisciplinary teams, provide supervision and coaching, and oversee budget and resource allocation. Furthermore, the role demands guiding the communication and visualization of analytical findings for senior audiences, designing evidence-to-policy uptake strategies, and promoting knowledge sharing across teams. This includes coordinating manuscript submissions to peer-reviewed journals and representing WFP as a technical thought leader in global forums.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of eight years of professional experience in nutrition analytics. Experience with large-scale food fortification or local food solutions is a plus. Must have demonstrated experience supervising large, multi-disciplinary teams and managing research/analyses with diverse stakeholders. This includes expertise in research design, data collection, analysis, and write-up, covering food/nutrient availability, intake, status, health data, and household survey data modeling for individual intake estimation.
