Job Purpose

The Logistics Associate (Food Quality and Safety) will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of food assistance provided by WFP in Jordan. This position supports the implementation of WFP's Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) policies and procedures across various operational modalities, including in-kind distributions, cash-based transfers, and school feeding programs. The associate will conduct field monitoring, inspections, and sampling to verify compliance with FSQA standards, assist in supplier assessments, and support the investigation and reporting of food safety incidents. By working closely with partners, suppliers, and national authorities, this role directly contributes to ensuring that safe and high-quality food reaches vulnerable beneficiaries, upholding WFP's commitment to operational excellence and accountability.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Associate (Food Quality and Safety) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food distributed by the World Food Programme (WFP). This involves supporting the implementation of WFP's Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) policies and procedures across various operations, including in-kind distributions, cash-based transfers, and school feeding programs. The associate will conduct routine monitoring visits to warehouses, production facilities, and distribution sites to verify compliance with FSQA requirements. They will assist in collecting samples, inspection data, and operational records, and support supplier assessment and monitoring activities. A key responsibility is to investigate, document, and report on food safety incidents, beneficiary complaints, and quality deviations. The role also involves supporting risk mitigation measures, maintaining operational records related to food safety and hygiene, and coordinating laboratory testing. The associate will provide technical support to cooperating partners, suppliers, and retailers, and participate in audits and assessments. Furthermore, they will compile and analyze data for FSQA reporting, support training initiatives, and contribute to emergency preparedness and response activities. Regular field travel and proficiency in digital data collection tools are essential for this position, which requires strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Work Experience

Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience in areas such as food safety, food quality, food production, regulatory inspection, laboratory testing, auditing, public health inspection, nutrition operations, or supply chain. Experience in conducting inspections, monitoring visits, audits, surveys, verification visits, or compliance checks is also needed. Additionally, experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reporting operational data is required.
