Job Purpose

The Partnerships, Communications, and Reporting Officer will play a crucial role in strengthening WFP's strategic objectives by identifying, developing, and nurturing quality partnerships. This position is responsible for enhancing and implementing the partnerships strategy to align with the Country Strategic Plan, key programme strategies, and donor priorities. The officer will focus on expanding and diversifying the fundraising portfolio, exploring opportunities beyond traditional donors, and building strategic engagement with International Financial Institutions. This role involves guiding national staff in managing external partnerships, analyzing partner data, and ensuring partner visibility. Additionally, the officer will oversee country-specific communications activities, ensuring alignment with WFP's corporate and regional strategies, and contribute to improving operational information management and performance reporting through targeted guidance and training.

Responsibilities

The Partnerships, Communications, and Reporting Officer (SC8) role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is crucial for advancing WFP's mission. The primary responsibility is to identify, develop, and strengthen quality partnerships that align with WFP's strategic objectives and the Country Strategic Plan. This involves enhancing and implementing a partnerships strategy, with a strong focus on expanding and diversifying the fundraising portfolio beyond traditional donors to include untapped institutional donors, the private sector, and International Financial Institutions (IFIs). The role requires building and leading strategic engagement with IFIs, exploring innovative financing opportunities, and guiding national staff in managing external partnerships and information at the country level. Additionally, the officer will support a wide range of partnership activities, including profiling, data analysis, and outreach, ensuring partner visibility and compliance with conditions. Facilitating corporate dialogue through quality briefing materials and proactively highlighting strategic opportunities to senior management are key. The position also involves gathering partner intelligence, assessing results, and contributing to partnership proposals and agreements. Furthermore, the role supports UN system and multilateral fora partnerships to advocate for SDGs and Zero Hunger, and oversees country-specific communications activities, ensuring alignment with WFP strategies and operational needs. Capacity building for staff and partners on information management and performance reporting, along with supporting emergency response communication efforts, are also integral to the responsibilities.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of one year of post-graduate professional experience in partnerships, external relations, communications, donor visibility, knowledge management, or performance reporting within the UN, government, NGO, development, or private sector. Experience in drafting high-quality briefs, press materials, and social content, coordinating inputs, and using data for outreach is essential. Desired experience includes building stakeholder relationships, preparing visibility materials, using corporate systems, contributing to proposals, and supporting emergency communications.
