Job Purpose
The IT Solutions Assistant will support the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and user support of locally developed systems and digital tools under the supervision of the Head of TEC or a senior colleague. This role involves completing assigned coding, configuration, testing, documentation, and deployment tasks according to approved specifications and procedures. The incumbent will also provide routine support and monitoring for applications and databases, assist with pilots and rollouts, and escalate complex issues related to development, cloud administration, integration, security, and solution design. The position requires assisting in enhancing web applications, implementing features using specified frameworks, performing basic testing and troubleshooting, and responding to user queries to ensure the smooth operation of IT solutions.
Responsibilities
This role involves assisting in the maintenance and enhancement of web applications and digital tools. Responsibilities include completing frontend and backend coding or configuration tasks according to approved specifications and standards. The individual will support senior colleagues in developing and maintaining application features using technologies like React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP/Laravel. Key duties also encompass performing basic unit and functional testing, troubleshooting routine issues, applying approved fixes, and escalating complex problems. User support is another crucial aspect, involving responding to queries, resolving common application issues, and escalating more complex cases. Additionally, the role requires assisting with application installation, configuration, deployment, and release activities, following established procedures and senior guidance. Collecting and documenting user needs and business requirements to aid in analysis and solution design is also part of the job. Adherence to IT security, data protection, backup, and business continuity procedures is mandatory, with prompt reporting of exceptions and escalation of security or recovery issues. The position may also involve other related duties as required.
Work Experience
Requires at least four years of progressive experience in software development. Experience in systems engineering, data engineering, data analysis, or related technical fields is considered a plus.
