Job Purpose

The Project Coordinator/MSD/Programme Officer (P3) will be instrumental in supporting the implementation of a key project funded by KOICA in Bhutan. This role involves overseeing the construction of school kitchens and stores, improving school nutrition programs, and establishing linkages between local Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) and schools. The incumbent will manage project activities, coordinate with implementing partners, and ensure compliance with donor requirements. Responsibilities include leading site assessments, overseeing construction phases, developing capacity-building modules for school staff and FBOs, and establishing effective supply chain models. The position also requires strong monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and knowledge management, with a specific focus on communication and reporting in Korean for KOICA. This role is crucial for enhancing school nutrition, supporting local agriculture, and strengthening WFP's partnership with the Bhutanese government and KOICA.

Responsibilities

The Project Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation of a project funded by KOICA in Bhutan, focusing on constructing school kitchens and stores, improving school nutrition, and linking local Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) to schools. Key duties include project management support, leading the coordination and technical scoping for construction of school facilities, overseeing design and procurement processes, and supervising construction phases to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards and donor requirements. The role also involves coordinating capacity-building modules for school staff on food safety and kitchen management, developing nutrition education campaigns, and designing a supply chain model to connect FBOs with school feeding programs. Additionally, the specialist will develop training for FBOs and government extension officers, capture lessons learned, monitor project activities, and contribute to proposal development. A significant part of the role involves managing reporting and evaluation in coordination with KOICA, including data collection, verification, and ensuring timely submission of high-quality reports in Korean. The specialist will also facilitate knowledge management by synthesizing project insights into accessible knowledge products and disseminating findings to relevant stakeholders.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in international development or humanitarian work. Experience as a project manager or specialist, particularly in school feeding, home-grown school feeding, and school nutrition, is preferred. Prior work with government, UN agencies, or development partners is advantageous. Essential skills include competency in results-based program management, strong report writing and presentation abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills for multicultural environments.
