Job Purpose
The Operational Information Management Officer will lead and advance global OIM activities, ensuring consistency, high-quality, and strategically aligned operational information across WFP. This role is crucial for supporting evidence-based decision-making, maintaining a common operational picture, and ensuring coherent external messaging. The officer will be responsible for developing OIM governance frameworks, managing the production and dissemination of key operational information products like the Daily Operational Brief, and enhancing OIM digital platforms. They will also promote innovation, coordinate information management during emergencies, and strengthen the global OIM network through collaboration and workforce development.
Responsibilities
The Operational Information Management (OIM) function is crucial for maintaining a unified view of World Food Programme (WFP) operations by ensuring accurate and timely information flow. This role involves leading and coordinating global OIM activities to ensure consistency and strategic alignment of operational information, thereby supporting evidence-based decision-making and coherent external messaging. Key responsibilities include developing and institutionalizing OIM governance frameworks, standards, and best practices. The role also entails managing the production and dissemination of essential operational information products, such as the Daily Operational Brief (DOB), and synthesizing global data into actionable insights for leadership. Furthermore, it involves leading the design and improvement of OIM tools, templates, and training materials, as well as managing and enhancing OIM digital platforms and systems. Promoting innovation, automation, and the use of emerging technologies like AI to improve efficiency is also a significant aspect. The function supports information management during emergencies, provides surge support, and deploys technical expertise as needed. Strengthening the global OIM network through collaboration, workforce development, and stakeholder engagement is essential for ensuring strategic alignment across the organization.
Work Experience
Requires 6 to 10 years of postgraduate professional experience in information management, reporting, or related fields. Strong analytical, information, and knowledge management skills are essential, including the ability to quality assure operational briefs. Candidates should possess sound knowledge of business processes and UN/WFP systems, along with excellent organizational skills to manage priorities and deadlines independently. Flexibility and adaptability are also key.
