Job Purpose

The Logistics Assistant (Roster) will provide specialized support and/or supervise staff in implementing standard logistics and supply chain procedures to ensure the efficient delivery of goods and services. This role involves coordinating procurement requests, managing contracts with service providers, and overseeing inventory management to analyze trends and report on stock status. The incumbent will also contribute to operational supply chain analysis, assist in quality control of data, and manage the processing of logistics documentation, including customs clearance and invoice verification. Furthermore, the position requires supporting emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring that logistics capacity is robust. The role demands initiative, sound judgment in managing unforeseen issues, and effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and timely assistance to beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

The role involves providing specialized support to logistics operations, ensuring the efficient delivery of food assistance. Key responsibilities include coordinating purchase requests, managing contracts with service providers, and evaluating suppliers and transporters. The position requires managing stock operations, analyzing trends, and reporting on inventory status from source to beneficiary. It also entails assisting with quality control for product accounting data and analyzing supply chain operations to inform planning and assessments. The role includes handling logistical documentation, resolving operational issues, and escalating complex problems. Furthermore, it involves conducting research, collecting data, performing analyses, and generating reports to support informed decision-making. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders is crucial for managing logistics operations and ensuring effective service delivery. The position also requires supervising support staff, providing guidance, and supporting emergency preparedness and crisis response activities, including updating logistics capacity assessments and contingency plans.

Work Experience

Experience required includes managing internal systems, processing requests for ongoing shipments, procurement, insurance claims, and food stocks. Additionally, candidates need experience in administering third-party service provider contracts, establishing contractual documents, executing contracts, and monitoring budgets with associated reporting.
