Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (Disability Inclusion & Localization) will support the planning, start-up, and implementation of disability inclusion and localization activities. This role involves coordinating with partners, particularly Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), to ensure effective project initiation, including inception planning, partnership orientation, and readiness activities. The Associate will review and finalize Field Level Agreements (FLAs), support partnership management, and ensure project activities align with WFP's disability inclusion corporate guidance and UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS 2.0) requirements. Key responsibilities include preparing project planning documents, facilitating workshops, supporting implementation arrangements, and maintaining liaison with stakeholders. The role also focuses on strengthening partner capacity in safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), accountability mechanisms, and disability-inclusive participation.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate (Disability Inclusion & Localization) role involves supporting the planning and execution of disability inclusion and localization initiatives. Key responsibilities include coordinating with partners for the Field Level Agreement (FLA) process, ensuring compliance, and leading start-up activities such as inception planning and partnership orientation. The associate will review and finalize FLA documentation, establish and manage partnerships with national Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), and ensure project activities align with WFP's disability inclusion guidance, the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy, and existing assessment reports. This includes preparing project planning documents like work plans, implementation schedules, and monitoring frameworks. The role also requires coordinating workshops, supporting the development of implementation arrangements, and maintaining liaison with WFP units and stakeholders. A crucial aspect is identifying and escalating implementation risks and bottlenecks. Additionally, the associate will support OPDs in strengthening safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), accountability mechanisms, and disability-inclusive participation practices, contributing to organizational capacity strengthening.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of progressive experience in areas such as disability inclusion, localization, NGO/OPD capacity strengthening, partnership management, humanitarian programs, or community development. Operational experience with WFP is highly desirable.
