Job Purpose

The Programme Assistant (Monitoring & Evaluation) will support the implementation of routine monitoring activities across WFP programme interventions in Sri Lanka, a nation highly vulnerable to climate-related disasters. This role is crucial for assisting in data collection, management, and reporting to ensure the effective delivery of a USD 7.5 million program aimed at assisting 87,000 people affected by natural disasters. The assistant will help coordinate field monitoring, support data entry and cleaning, and contribute to preparing monitoring updates and reports. This position plays a key part in strengthening WFP's disaster preparedness and response capabilities, ensuring timely and effective humanitarian assistance reaches vulnerable communities and supports their resilience against future shocks.

Responsibilities

The role involves comprehensive support for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities within WFP programme interventions. Key responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of routine monitoring, coordinating field visits, assessments, surveys, and post-distribution monitoring exercises, and tracking monitoring plans. The position also requires supporting data collection processes, including preparing materials and assisting with data entry, cleaning, and validation for monitoring databases. Analysis and reporting are crucial, with duties encompassing the preparation of monitoring updates, dashboards, and summary reports, as well as contributing to data analysis and visualization under M&E team guidance. The role further supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and compiles information for corporate reporting systems. Coordination with government counterparts and partners on monitoring activities, organizing M&E-related meetings and trainings, and providing administrative support such as preparing meeting minutes and assisting with logistical arrangements are also integral. Additionally, the role may involve supporting beneficiary feedback mechanisms and performing other assigned duties to ensure effective program oversight and accountability.

Work Experience

The role requires experience in collecting programme output and outcome data, performing quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting findings to management, partners, and stakeholders. Additionally, experience with WFP's monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is necessary.
