Job Purpose
The Driver G2 position is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and commodities. This role involves operating assigned vehicles, adhering strictly to UN safety and security regulations, and maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks. The Driver will also assist with airport meet-and-greets, provide basic support to visitors, and ensure vehicles are kept in optimal condition through regular maintenance and reporting of any mechanical issues. Beyond driving duties, the role may include performing basic office support tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing mail services, contributing to the overall administrative efficiency of the office and ensuring timely support to clients.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and commodities. This involves driving personnel and delivering items according to established routes and UN safety regulations. A key duty is to assist official personnel and visitors upon arrival, aiding with customs and visa formalities to ensure a smooth transition. The role also requires meticulous maintenance of vehicle logbooks, daily reporting on the vehicle's mechanical status, and ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, well-equipped, and in good working order. This includes timely maintenance and reporting of any mechanical issues. In the event of an accident or delivery issues, the driver must follow established procedures and report immediately to their supervisor. Beyond driving, the position may involve basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, managing stores, and handling mail and bill payments, providing essential administrative support. The role demands adherence to all driving rules, regulations, and safety standards, with a focus on client-oriented service, responsibility, courtesy, and tact.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of work experience as a Driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans and trucks, is necessary. Defensive driving experience is a plus. The role also demands knowledge of driving regulations, local conditions, safety standards, and basic vehicle maintenance and repair skills.
