Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Senior Communications Associate will support the World Food Programme's (WFP) communication efforts in the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs), focusing on enhancing WFP's visibility and reputation. This role involves assisting in the planning, development, and execution of communication campaigns tailored to specific audiences. Key responsibilities include creating communication materials, gathering beneficiary stories, and drafting content that highlights the impact of WFP's operations, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging. The associate will also manage social media content, develop multimedia databases with photos and videos, and serve as a focal point for media coverage of events. Additionally, they will organize and execute special events, monitor traditional and social media for relevant information, and distribute communication guidelines to WFP staff. Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and integrated processes is also a crucial aspect of the role. The expected outputs include stories, social media posts, videos, images, infographics, media messages, press releases, and content for WFP's digital platforms.
Work Experience
Requires at least seven years of professional experience in a relevant field, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development. Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of UN system policies and functions, and proficiency in MS Office are also required. Familiarity with WFP reporting and data systems is considered an advantage.
