Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant will provide essential administrative and specialized support to enhance WFP's visibility and reputation in Nepal. The assistant will contribute to creating engaging content for various platforms, manage media assets, and maintain communication databases. Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) communication efforts. Under the supervision of the Communications Associate and the Head of Partnerships, Communications and Reporting (PCR) Unit, the assistant provides essential coordination, administrative, and specialized services. This includes assisting in the development and execution of communication plans, monitoring the production of various communication materials, and supporting multimedia projects. A key responsibility is monitoring traditional and social media to inform communication strategies and reporting. The assistant also conducts basic research on WFP priority areas, compiling data to support communication products and reports, thereby enabling informed decision-making. Furthermore, they are involved in preparing high-quality digital content like videos, audio, graphics, and images for different platforms, ensuring adherence to corporate messaging and branding guidelines. They also manage media files, publish content, and distribute communication guidelines. Maintaining accurate records and databases, such as media contact lists, is vital for accessibility. The role involves gathering information to respond to queries, liaising with WFP staff to ensure aligned communication activities, and performing any other assigned tasks to enhance WFP's visibility and reputation.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in communication activities and strategies. Must demonstrate proficiency in routine communication techniques, videography, and photography. Experience supporting new staff with guidance and taking responsibility for communications processes requiring interpretation of guidelines is also necessary.
