Job Purpose
The Food Systems and Climate Specialist will provide technical coordination for the design, articulation, and implementation of WFP Guatemala's strategic initiatives in climate resilience, sustainable food systems, adaptive social protection, and resource mobilization. This role offers specialized advisory services, guides inter-agency coordination, and ensures the technical and programmatic quality of WFP's approaches, aligning with national priorities, corporate policies, and donor requirements. The specialist is responsible for the formulation, technical management, and monitoring of proposals and initiatives linked to climate and development financing mechanisms. By fostering strategic partnerships with government counterparts, UN agencies, development partners, and internal WFP teams, the position will strengthen institutional capacities and contribute to sustainable programmatic outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities

Furthermore, the role involves guiding the integration of climate adaptation approaches into sustainable food systems, developing policy inputs that link climate change adaptation with WFP's strategic objectives, and advising on capacity building for government institutions and WFP teams. The position also requires managing and systematizing evidence, lessons learned, and technical knowledge to inform programmatic decisions and enhance intervention quality, ensuring transversal programmatic responsibility across various strategic areas.
Work Experience
Requires 9 years of progressive and relevant experience in development, resilience, social protection, food systems, food and nutrition security, and/or climate change adaptation and mitigation. Experience should be in national or subnational contexts.
