Job Purpose
The Finance Officer - Corporate Services Support will ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of critical financial processes and activities within the Yemen Country Office. This role is crucial for enabling WFP's rapid response capabilities by managing core finance functions such as financial statement integrity, budget monitoring, cost recovery, donor reporting, and reconciliations. The officer will analyze financial data, monitor exchange rates and liquidity, and contribute to improving financial controls and operational efficiency. By coordinating with various stakeholders and potentially supervising junior staff, the Finance Officer plays a key part in minimizing financial risks and ensuring financial services align with WFP's business objectives and humanitarian mission.
Responsibilities
The Finance Officer - Corporate Services Support role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Aden, Yemen, is crucial for ensuring the smooth delivery of financial operations. The position involves managing and coordinating critical financial processes such as Financial Status Information (FSI), Cash-Based Transfers (CBT), and UN Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS). Key responsibilities include ensuring the validity of financial data, coordinating budget management, monitoring spending, and reconciling various financial accounts like UNHAS and cost recovery projects. The role also entails leading country office donor reporting, tracking financial data to minimize risks and improve operational efficiency, and contributing to financial controls and risk assessments. Additionally, the Finance Officer will guide junior staff, represent the unit in meetings with external partners, and be adaptable to fill capacity gaps within the finance function. The ultimate goal is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, improved business processes, and effective support for WFP's humanitarian mission, particularly in a challenging operational context where finance operations have been centralized due to security incidents.
Work Experience
Requires a total of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience. Experience within the UN system, particularly in finance and project management within humanitarian and development contexts, is preferred.
