Organizational Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) Pacific Multi-Country Office (PMCO) supports Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) in enhancing food security, resilience, and emergency preparedness. Given the region's vulnerability to disasters and climate change, effective information management is crucial for evidence-based decision-making, programme implementation, and coordination.
Job Purpose
The Programme and Policy Officer (Information Management) will be instrumental in strengthening WFP's information management capabilities within the Pacific region. This role involves developing and maintaining critical information systems and products for the Regional Pacific Food Security Cluster (rPFSC) and Pacific Regional Cash Working Group (PRCWG). The officer will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating programme, operational, and coordination data, creating visualizations like dashboards and infographics to support evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, the position will provide essential information management support for emergency preparedness and response activities, contribute to corporate reporting, and facilitate knowledge management and capacity strengthening for staff and partners. The ultimate goal is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of WFP's programmes and coordination efforts in the face of significant regional challenges.
Responsibilities
The Programme and Policy Officer (Information Management) plays a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's Pacific Multi-Country Office (PMCO) in strengthening food security and resilience across Pacific Island Countries. A primary responsibility is to serve as the Information Management focal point for the Regional Pacific Food Security Cluster (rPFSC) and the Pacific Regional Cash Working Group (PRCWG). This involves maintaining and enhancing their information management systems, including partner directories, databases, coordination platforms, and reporting tools. The officer will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, consolidating, and disseminating various data types, adhering to WFP's information management standards. This includes developing analytical and visualization products such as dashboards, infographics, and situation reports to meet the information needs of the Programme Unit and the clusters. Furthermore, the role supports emergency preparedness and response by developing and maintaining assessment databases, monitoring tools, and risk profiles. Capacity strengthening of programme staff, government counterparts, and partners on information management best practices is also a key responsibility. The officer will contribute to corporate and donor reporting, knowledge management, and cross-functional programme initiatives, ensuring effective information flow and evidence-based decision-making to support WFP's mission in the region.
Work Experience
The role requires at least seven years of progressive experience in information management, program support, monitoring and evaluation, data management, or reporting. Candidates should have experience managing databases, information systems, and digital data collection platforms. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools like Microsoft Excel is essential. Experience supporting program monitoring, performance reporting, and developing dashboards and analytical products is also required.
