Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (Protection/SCL5) will play a crucial role in ensuring WFP's programming in Sudan is efficient, effective, equitable, and accountable. The role involves supporting the implementation of the Unified Case Management system, integrating monitoring and community feedback mechanisms. The Programme Assistant will contribute to the people-centred programme quality team, focusing on protection, accountability to affected people, gender, conflict sensitivity, and environmental and social safeguards. This involves supporting assessments, community consultations, data collection, analysis of protection risks, and promoting safe access to assistance for all beneficiaries, including vulnerable groups. The role also includes capacity strengthening of partners and staff, and contributing to reporting and knowledge management to enhance programme quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (PCPQ) at the World Food Programme (WFP) plays a crucial role in ensuring that food assistance programs are effective, equitable, and accountable. This involves supporting the implementation of people-centered approaches, which include protection, gender sensitivity, conflict sensitivity, and environmental and social safeguards. A key responsibility is assisting with the rollout and management of the Unified Case Management system, integrating monitoring and community feedback mechanisms to address individual beneficiary issues promptly. The role requires active engagement with affected populations through consultations and feedback sessions to inform program planning and decision-making. The assistant will collect, verify, and analyze data related to assessments, monitoring, and community feedback, documenting protection risks and other emerging issues. They will also support capacity strengthening for partners and WFP staff on people-centered standards, promote safe and dignified access to assistance, and contribute to reporting and knowledge management. This position requires strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a deep understanding of humanitarian principles and practices, particularly in protection and accountability to affected people.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian and development work at the field level is essential.
