Job Purpose
The Workforce Planning and Org Design Consultant will serve as a regional technical focal point, supporting Country Offices in developing and implementing strategic workforce plans and organizational structure reviews. This role involves conducting in-depth workforce analysis, identifying future needs, and developing practical recommendations to ensure WFP has the right people and capabilities in place. The consultant will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Country Office management, HR colleagues, and functional experts, to translate strategic priorities and operational realities into actionable plans. Key responsibilities include analyzing organizational setups, facilitating engagement, coordinating data collection, monitoring implementation, and contributing to the continuous improvement of WFP's workforce planning methodologies and tools.
Responsibilities
The Workforce Planning and Org Design Consultant role is central to the World Food Programme's (WFP) strategic human resources function. This position acts as a regional technical focal point for Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) and Organizational Alignment Reviews. Key responsibilities include conducting in-depth workforce analysis, utilizing data and stakeholder input to identify current compositions, skills, future demands, and potential gaps. The consultant will analyze country office organizational structures and develop design options informed by these findings. A crucial aspect of the role involves translating complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for management and senior stakeholders to guide decision-making. This includes supporting the development of comprehensive workforce plans and organizational designs that address short-, medium-, and long-term needs, detailing necessary actions, resources, and implementation strategies. The role also emphasizes facilitating engagement across various WFP offices and with diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment and informed participation. Monitoring the implementation of these plans and recommendations, gathering lessons learned, and contributing to the continuous improvement of WFP's SWP practices are also vital accountabilities. The consultant will collaborate within the SWP team, applying analytical thinking and a solution-oriented approach to help WFP proactively plan for its future workforce requirements.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, with at least 3 years focused on Strategic Workforce Planning, Organizational Design, or HR consulting. Essential skills include strong analytical, communication, and project management abilities. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of international experience, working in a multicultural environment, is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant data analysis/visualization tools is expected.
