Job Purpose

Additionally, the position supports Cash-Based Transfer (CBT) operations by verifying invoices, assessing retailer performance, and ensuring local markets are adequately supplied. Responsibilities
The Logistics Assistant role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Rumbek, South Sudan, is crucial for ensuring the efficient and accountable delivery of food and cash-based assistance to vulnerable populations. The incumbent will provide essential support to field office logistics operations, coordinating deliveries from warehouses to distribution points and meticulously documenting all commodity movements. A key responsibility includes maintaining accurate warehouse stock records through regular reconciliation between physical counts and system data, ensuring real-time transaction capture for receipts and dispatches. The role also involves verifying and reconciling Food Release Notes (FRNs) and ensuring Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) and Supply Orders (SOs) are correctly linked for improved system reconciliation. Furthermore, the Logistics Assistant will support the management of retailers involved in cash-based transfers, including onboarding, contract management, and performance evaluation, ensuring local markets are adequately supplied and retailers adhere to storage standards. They will also monitor last-mile delivery dashboards, address technical queries from cooperating partners, ensure correct posting of losses, and facilitate prompt closure of STOs to maintain accurate inventory. Training cooperating partners on last-mile operations and WFP systems is also a component of this role, all under the supervision of the National Logistics Officer.
Work Experience
The role requires strong analytical and coordination skills, with the ability to produce thorough reports and basic recommendations. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and be capable of working in challenging field locations. Negotiation skills with local authorities and external stakeholders are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is also a requirement.
