Organizational Context
This position is based in WFP Afghanistan warehouses in Kabul, reporting to the Store Supervisor/Workshop Manager. The role involves all phases of warehouse operations with minimal supervision, potentially including training other warehouse staff. Job Purpose
The Storekeeper (Fleet) is responsible for efficiently managing the receipt, dispatch, and verification of spare parts and materials to optimize warehouse operations and minimize losses. This role ensures adherence to WFP's warehouse standards and guidelines by meticulously handling incoming goods, verifying quantities, and reporting any discrepancies or damages. The Storekeeper will manage the issuance of authorized spare parts, ensuring correct allocation for vehicle and machinery maintenance, and accurately record returned items. They will also prepare and oversee the secure packing and loading of parts for transfers, maintain up-to-date inventory records, and implement stock management practices to prevent stockouts. Furthermore, the Storekeeper will contribute to procurement processes, maintain accurate data in the Fleet Management System, and foster a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve meticulous management of spare parts and materials within a warehouse setting. This includes the careful counting, registration, and quality control of all received goods, promptly reporting any discrepancies or damages. The role requires ensuring that all issued spare parts and materials are authorized and correctly matched to specific vehicle or machinery makes and models, adhering to established criteria. Accountability extends to recording returned stock accurately. Furthermore, the position entails preparing and packing requests for parts transfers to other depots, and supervising the physical loading process to prevent transit damage. Maintaining up-to-date catalogues, price lists, and cross-reference information is crucial. Effective stock management is key, involving the implementation of minimum and maximum stock levels to avoid shortages, and organizing regular stock-taking to ensure record accuracy. The role also covers safe and efficient storage of parts, preparing procurement orders (local and international), and tracking the entire procurement process. Adherence to normative guidelines and accurate data entry into FMS modules are mandatory. Finally, fostering teamwork and performing other requested duties are integral aspects of the role.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in spare parts warehouse and inventory management. This includes expertise in stock control, material receipt and issuance, inventory reconciliation, using Fleet systems, managing warehouse records, and proper storage of vehicle/workshop spare parts.
