Job Purpose
The Logistics Assistant (Asistente de Logística) will provide crucial support to WFP's supply chain operations in Ecuador. The incumbent will assist in managing warehouse operations, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting the procurement and monitoring of logistics services. The Logistics Assistant will play a key role in mitigating losses, promoting best practices in warehouse management, and ensuring compliance with WFP standards and procedures, thereby facilitating the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Assistant (SC-5) will play a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) supply chain operations in Ecuador. This position is integral to ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of food and non-food items to beneficiaries, aligning with WFP's strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include overseeing and guiding operational actions within warehouses to maximize storage quality, minimize losses, and promote best practices in inventory and warehouse management, all while adhering to WFP's established standards and procedures. The assistant will support the timely management of orders and the delivery of products to authorized partners and destinations. They will also assist in managing the contracting of logistics service providers, monitoring their performance, and handling diverse inquiries and technical support requests with a strong customer service focus. Furthermore, the role involves contributing to budget preparation and monitoring, supporting inventory management processes to maintain traceability, and ensuring the quality and integrity of data related to product accounting and control. The Logistics Assistant will analyze operational supply chain data, assist in evaluations, and support the planning of operations. Processing necessary documentation for logistical operations, resolving operational issues, and preparing various reports are also key duties. This role requires coordinating with internal stakeholders and external actors, providing guidance to support staff, and ensuring the accurate recording of information in corporate systems to facilitate informed decision-making and the overall success of WFP's humanitarian mission.
Work Experience
The role requires at least 5 years of experience in similar positions. This includes experience with corporate systems for tracking shipments, supply chain information, insurance claims, and food inventories. The candidate should also have experience in data analysis, report generation, measuring and evaluating service provider performance using KPIs, and supporting the preparation and management of contractual documentation.
