Job Purpose
The Business Support Assistant (Supply Chain) will provide essential support to WFP's supply chain operations, ensuring the efficient and ethical procurement and management of goods and services. This role is crucial for guaranteeing that life-saving resources, from food to essential services, reach beneficiaries effectively. The assistant will be involved in supplier qualification, logistical service contracting, and managing import processes. They will also contribute to maintaining transparency and compliance in all supply chain activities, supporting audit readiness and donor confidence. Responsibilities
The Business Support Assistant in Supply Chain plays a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) mission by ensuring the efficient and ethical procurement of life-saving resources. This involves a range of responsibilities focused on the acquisition of goods and services essential for humanitarian aid. Key duties include identifying and qualifying potential suppliers, managing the contracting of logistical services, and overseeing the procurement of both food and non-food items needed for emergency situations and other humanitarian assistance efforts. The role also extends to supporting country offices during logistical cluster activations, which involves organizing coordination meetings and managing information flow. The assistant will execute supply chain tasks related to supplier identification, qualification, and logistical processes such as imports, budgeting, and reconciliations. Maintaining transparency and compliance in all supply chain activities is paramount, contributing to audit readiness and donor confidence. Furthermore, the position requires generating updated reports as needed by the supply chain unit, ensuring all operations align with WFP's standards and values of accountability, equity, and impact.
Work Experience
The role requires at least 4 years of experience in similar positions. This includes experience with institutional systems for tracking shipments, supply chain information, insurance claims, and food stocks. Proficiency in data analysis for products and funds, report writing, and measuring service provider performance using key performance indicators is also necessary. Experience in preparing contract documentation and providing technical operational support within institutional systems is beneficial.
